Express Yourself: Creating Your Own Jewlelry
Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 4PM
The girls learned what it takes to be an Entrepreneur. They also learned the meaning of it. They were informed that it takes creativity and great innovative skills, passion and drive to make a business survive.
They were so excited about their jewelry creation. Some of the girls talked about selling their jewelry on their personal websites. They made 4 or 5 bracelets that can be SOLD as Mother's Day gift. In addition to selling bracelets, it was requested that each girl giveaway a bracelet to a special woman in their life albeit their mom, grandma, aunt, godmother, teacher or guardian. They also made earrings to keep for themselves or to sell to friends and/or family.
The Readers Are Leaders Book Club is also incorporated into the Talk Session. Each book chosen is related to the topic of the sessions discussed. The girls were issued two books, "Worst Enemies/Best Friends" and "Brand New School Brand New Ruby." The GIAgirls are able to keep their books in their personal library. The books are theirs to have forever to encourage reading at home. The girls were also giving brand new journals to journal their thoughts and how they feel about each talk session and what they learned from the session. They can share it with the group or it can remain private.
This session lasted three hours. The girls had a great time and were not ready to leave.
